Trump Votes For Death Penalty For Being Gay

Donald Trump just came under immediate hot fire for a comment he made tonight suggesting the “second amendment people do something” about Hillary Clinton.

And the video above shows one of his surrogates nervously scrambling to try and come up with some kind of explanation for it.  Did you watch it?  It’s not very believable.

It’s obviously not new for Trump to say something so off the cuff – but this comment was particularly disturbing given that it implied a direct threat at Hillary Clinton’s life.

There is really no defending that.  Period.  Conservatives and liberals alike are freaking out over this comment – because it’s just not okay.

A candidate for president threatening someone’s life on national television is nearly unthinkable.  It’s not just because he dared to say something edgy.

When you have that much influence, you don’t say things to suggest that another person should be killed.  You don’t know what the consequence of that could be.

Kayleigh McEnany, spokesperson for Donald Trump’s campaign, came on CNN to try and make an excuse for Trump’s inexcusable remark.

Her claim?  He wasn’t talking about shooting people at all.

According to her:

“I think he’s referring to the fact that the National Rifle Association is the most powerful lobby, hands down, in the United States.  So if anyone can stop a very anti-Second Amendment agenda, it would be the NRA and the Second Amendment folks.  And I think when he talks about Hillary wanting to roll back the Second Amendment, he’s referring to how she doesn’t like Supreme Court jurisprudence on the Second Amendment.”

That seems like some serious mental gymnastics.  Consider the context of Trump’s comment.  He wasn’t talking about guns or the NRA at all:

“If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks.  Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is.”

I just don’t think this is spinn-able.
