Major GOP Donor Releases Statement, Says No More Money If You Don’t Ban Assault Weapons

According to a new report on Friday, a lawyer for President Trump reportedly paid a former adult-film star a six-figure sum in order to keep her from disclosing her affair with him, since he was running for the presidency and still married to Melania.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the story. They claim that Trump arranged for the payment to be made to Stephanie Clifford just one month before people were supposed to vote in the 2016 presidential election.

Ms. Clifford’s industry name (or stage name) is Stormy Daniels.

She alleged that their first sexual encounter took place at a July 2006 celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, just one year after Trump married Melania in 2005.

Ms. Clifford supposedly signed a non-disclosure agreement after payment terms were discussed, and reportedly threatened to pull the agreement after payment wasn’t initially made.

While Trump’s personal attorney denies the story, he chose not to address the $130,000 payment that the Trump Organization made on behalf of Ms. Clifford, and is choosing instead to hide behind attorney-client privileges. Ms. Clifford’s attorney is doing the same.

Per the Journal:

“The payment was made to Ms. Clifford through her lawyer in the matter, Keith Davidson, with funds sent to Mr. Davidson’s client-trust account at City National Bank in Los Angeles, according to the people.

“I previously represented Ms. Daniels,” Mr. Davidson said, referring to Ms. Clifford’s stage name. “Attorney-client privilege prohibits me from commenting on my clients’ legal matters.”

To date, Ms. Clifford has starred in more than 150 adult films and is considered one of the industry’s biggest stars.
