BREAKING: Trump Served By Court For Destroying Key Documents

Over the past few months, GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has expressed his love and admiration for a cult classic movie called “The Princess Bride.” Cruz would often re-enact scenes and use lines from the movie to make political points. During one such occasion, Cruz used a line from the Princess Bride’s main character — Inigo Montoya — to respond to the terrorist attacks in Paris. Cruz said:

“My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”

Actor Mandy Patinkin, who plays Inigo Montoya, recently had an interview with the New York Times, in which he expressed his disappointment with how Cruz has used his lines. Patinkin said that Cruz does not understand the film.

“I would like to be with Senator Cruz for a moment and I would like to respectfully ask him, since he quotes all the lines from ‘The Princess Bride’ and certainly all of my character, Inigo Montoya’s lines, I would like to know why he doesn’t quote my favorite line?”

The line Patinkin was referring to was his character Inigo Montoya’s final line in which he said:

“I have been in the revenge business so long, now that it’s over, I don’t know what to do with the rest of my life.”

Patinkin told the Times that Cruz was using fear and resentment to further his political agenda. Cruz said he would “carpet-bomb” the Middle East and block Syrian refugees from entering the U.S. should he be elected president. Patinkin gave Cruz some sound advice.

“Senator Cruz, if you’re going to say those lines, you’ve got to say the other line, too.”

He went on to say:

“This man is not putting forth ideas that are at the heart of what that movie is all about. I would love for Senator Cruz, and everyone creating fear mongering and hatred, to consider creating hope, optimism and love. Open your arms to these people, these refugees trying to get into our country, and open your hearts.”

Cruz’s spokesman Catherine Frazier told the Times:

“Having some fun with a cult classic like ‘The Princess Bride’ should be something we can all get behind, politics aside.”
