It’s not often that I sing the praises of Saturday Night Live, but their coverage of last week’s Democratic debate was spot on.
The “debate” sketch featured some big name people. Alec Baldwin was a perfect Jim Webb – complaining about the time allowed to speak and bragging that he “kicked every single ass” in Vietnam.
The highlight of the sketch, though, was the portrayal of Bernie Sanders, who was played with perfection by none other than Larry David, who’s no stranger to playing cantankerous Jewish men.
“We’re doomed,” shouted the fictional Sanders. “We need a revolution – millions of people on the streets, and we gotta do something and we gotta do it now!”
When asked his position of the big banks, he said,
“Eh, not a fan of the banks. They trample on the middle class. They control Washington, and why do they chain all their pens to the desk? Who’s trying to steal a pen from a bank? Makes no sense! That’s why you gotta break up the banks into little pieces and then flush the pieces down the toilet so you can never put the banks back together. Then you just make the bankers pay for college for everyone, and America’s fixed!”
That’s just the beginning. Love Bernie or just like him, you are sure to love this video.
