President Trump hit the links on the golf course again while he and his aides are bracing for a “big event” coming out of North Korea.
If North Korea isn’t dissuaded by China from conducting yet another nuclear weapons missile test, Trump is ready to take action. Other reports state that Trump is prepared to launch a preemptive strike on North Korea – even if they don’t perform the test.
Just days ago Trump dispatched the USS Carl Vinson strike group to the Korean Peninsula, prompting North Korea to threaten nuclear war.
“By relentlessly bringing in a number of strategic nuclear assets to the Korean Peninsula, the US is gravely threatening the peace and safety and driving the situation to the brink of a nuclear war,” the statement from North Korea noted.
Former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta came out against Trump saying that his actions were unlike “any president in recent history.”
“The words from the administration are creating even higher volume in terms of the provocations that are going on. I think we have got to be careful here,” Panetta told NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell. “We should not engage in any precipitous action. There is a reason no U.S. president in recent history has pulled the trigger on North Korea.”
He added, “We have the potential for a nuclear war that would take millions of lives. So I think we have got to exercise some care here.”
North Korea is promising a “merciless response” and is even preparing its forces to target America’s homeland.
Previously, Trump has stated that “North Korea is a problem, and the problem will be taken care of.”
Vice President Pence is traveling to South Korea to get a better hold of the situation while Trump stays at Mar-A-Lago, CNN is reporting.
Multiple senior U.S. intelligence officials confirmed that the U.S. is more than prepared to launch the preemptive strike against North Korea who says that a “big event” is near.
