Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has had a pretty tough time since being appointed by President Trump.
The blowback around her has only increased to mega heights after she gave an interview with 60 Minutes, that frankly, proved she was further out of touch with the American people than previously thought.
Her interview was so bad, Congressman Jared Huffman, who represents CA’s 2nd district, decided to send Trump a message about her that read:
Dear President Trump, if you want someone who has an actual IQ problem (as opposed to just being black), meet your Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. He then said: Rich, white, and dumber than a bag of hammers.
Talk about brutal.
If you haven’t heard by now, the IQ portion of his statement was referencing an earlier comment by Trump making fun of black Congresswoman Maxine Waters.
“Did you ever see her? Did you ever see her? ‘We will impeach him. We will impeach the president,'” Trump said
“‘It doesn’t matter, we will impeach him.’ She’s a low IQ individual,” Trump said. “You can’t help it.”
CNN contributor Ana Navarro also had a pretty brutal assessment, comparing her comments on par with Sarah Palin’s performance in the 2008 presidential race. We all know how that went down.
“I had not seen a TV interview so cringe-inducing, since Sarah Palin saw Russia from her backyard. I mean really folks, it’s not like DeVos was being asked to explain the Pythagorean Theorem.”
In the interview, DeVos admitted that she hadn’t thought to visit troubled schools. The host of 60 Minutes took her to school for it, too.
